Dr. Saeed Al-Qamiri Delivers Mehri Museum Some aArchaeological Holdings & Scientific Studies


On his visit to the Al-Mahra Museum, ON Wednesday, November 24, 2021, Dr. Saeed Al-Qumairi, Executive Director of the Mehri Language Center for Studies and Research, handed over the Director-General of the Office of the General Authority for Museums and Antiquities, Mr. Salem Abdullah Bakrit, the results of the field visit to the joint Omani-Yemeni team, during the period 14-17 September 2021.

This visit included handing over the following collections and studies:

1- A comprehensive descriptive study to visit the targeted places, Khasfit Fugit, Teh Cave in Wadi Jit, Hat District, and Ikhtit Cave, Ramdud District, Hof District.

1- Rocky algae (cave rocks) that were found at the bottom of the Fujit Khesfet in the Directorate of Shahn.

2- Old rocks used as horseshoes or animal traps that were found in the Togrit area, one of the valleys extending between the two directorates of Shahn and Hat.

At the same meeting, Dr. Al-Qumairi presented the five publications of the Mahri Language Center to the Al-Mahrah Museum, which are:

1- The first edition: Mahri poetry, its artistic features, its composition, and its weights.

For the researcher, Professor Abdul-Majid Awadh Al-Jaafari.

2- The second edition: Al-Mahra: Memories, Thoughts and Ashjans by Prof. Dr. Amin Al-Yazidi.

3- The third edition: Pictures from the life of the desert and the countryside, by the researcher Muhammad Ahmed Ali Raafit

4- The fourth edition: The Socotri Spoken by Dr. Noah Alamhi Al-Soqtari.

5- Fifth Edition: Articles in the South Arabian Languages by researcher Simon Senel, translated by Dr. Bashir Zendal.

At the end of the meeting, Professor Salem Bakrit thanked Dr. Al-Qumairi for his visit to the museum and providing it with these valuable archaeological holdings and scientific studies, and urged joint cooperation between Mehari Language Center for Studies and Research and the Office of the General Authority for Museums and Antiquities.
