The Mehri Language Centre for Studies and Research launches its 2nd scientific publication


On Monday, 4/1/2021, Under the patronage of the governor, Prof. Mohammed Ali Yasser, and in the presence of Prof.  Mukhtar Mohammed Saeed bin Awaid Al-Jaafari, the first representative of the governorate, Mehri Language Center for Studies and Research inaugurated , its second scientific publication, “Skilled Memories, Thoughts and Grieves” by Prof. Dr. Ameen Mohammed Abdullah Al-Yazidi – Professor of Literature and criticism at the Faculty of Education/ Al Mahra, and the deputy dean of the Faculty for Postgraduate Studies.

At the beginning of the inauguration, Dr. Saeed Najdan Al Qamiri, Executive Director of the Centre, welcomed all of the participants, reviewing the Centre’s main achievements.

In his brief speech, Professor Mukhtar Ben Atiyah praised the author’s efforts in writing his scientific book, which is a scientific and cultural asset to the Mehri Library , as well as the Centre’s efforts for linguistic and cultural preservation.

For his part, Professor Amin Muhammad Abdullah Al-Yazidi reviewed the chapters and contents of his book, which written in four hundred and thirty-one pages of medium pieces, where the theme that he collected during his work in Al-Mahra that exceeds twenty years. He thanked the role of the local authority in supporting scientific and cultural works. He also called on those interested to codify Mehri literature, whether in Mehri or in Arabic Language.

The book is  Mehri linguistic and literary memories, it contained what comes to the reader’s mind and what does not, as its author divided it into two chapters, the first one, in which he gave a historical overview of the land and man, its most famous figures in history, the Mehri language, and Mehri camels. , habits, education, and many more. And he made the second chapter in literature, culture and art, in which he collected a huge scientific material in Mehri proverbs and Mehri poetry, with a long list of the most prominent poets and examples of their poetry, and the most prominent cultural literature, and authors, to conclude his book with art and the most famous artists.

The inauguration was attended by Dr. Mohammed Al-Mujaibi, head of the Planning and Documentation Department at the center, faculty members at the Faculties of Education and Applied Sciences in Al-Mahra, and many graduate and undergraduate students in its faculties, researchers and those interested in skilled language and culture.
