The second coordination meeting was held at the Aden Center for Historical Studies and Research and Publishing between the leadership of the Aden Center and the Mehri Language Center for Studies and Research.
Dr. Saeed Saad Najadan Al-Qumairi, Executive Director of the Center, attended from the Mahari Language Center, and from the Aden Center, Dr. Muhmoud Al-Salmi, Director of the Center, Dr. Ali Saleh Al-Khalaki, Director of the Media and Public Relations Department at the Center, Dr. Taha Hussein Hadeel, Director of the Periodicals Department at the Center, and Dr. Nader Saad Al-Omari .
At the beginning, the Director of the Aden Center for Studies, Historical Research and Publishing, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Salmi, welcomed the Executive Director of Mehri Language Center, and briefed him on a summary of the activities of the Aden Center during his short life, and the blessing of the Aden Center for joint work with the Mahri Language Center for Studies and Research in serving the joint directions of the two centers in documenting Writing down our history and national heritage.
The meeting stood before the initial directions of the topics of the fourth scientific conference of the Aden Center for Historical Studies and Research, scheduled to be held next year in Al-Ghaydah, the capital of Al-Mahra Governorate, in partnership with the Mehri Language Center for Studies and Research, under the title (Al-Mahra through History). The first topic will be devoted to Al-Mahra in ancient history, and includes its location and impact The natural and geographical conditions in its history, skilled in ancient historical sources and inscriptions, its conditions during the era of the ancient states and its relations with its neighboring surroundings, and the Mahri language and its relationship to the southern Arabic dialects.
As for the second topic, it will be devoted to the skilled in Islamic history, and among its topics: the entry of the skilled into Islam and its role in the Islamic conquests, and its relationship to intellectual and religious currents and its general conditions during the era of the caliphate and local states.
The third topic will be devoted to Al-Mahrah in modern and contemporary history, and among the titles of the axis: Al-Mahra and Socotra during the era of the Sultans of the Afrar family, and Al-Mahra in colonial rivalry and Ottoman rule and the relationship of the Sultanate of Al-Mahra and Socotra with neighboring sultanates, and during the era of British colonialism, its customs, heritage, and leading Mahri personalities.
It was agreed to enrich these topics until they are approved in their final form, in coordination and consultation between the two centers, and to form a scientific committee for the conference, which will be announced early next year, with approval of the conference axes in their final form, and arrangements for the date of receiving abstracts and research, as well as setting the date for the conference.
For his part, Dr. Saeed Al-Qumairi expressed his satisfaction with the beginnings of fruitful cooperation between the Mahari Language Center and the Aden Center for Historical Studies, and welcomed the holding of the conference on the history of Al-Mahra throughout history and the development of aspects of this joint cooperation in the future for more giving in the service of our heritage and history.
At the end of the meeting, books issued by the two centers were exchanged as a beautiful tradition that reflects the interest in authoring, translation, and research activities of the two centers during their short life.
