الدكتور سعيد القميري من جبال المهرة إلى المنصات العالمية
وُلد الدكتور سعيد سعد نجادان القميري مدير مركز اللغة المهرية للدراسات والبحوث بجامعة المهرة، في محافظة المهرة النائية والغنية ثقافيًا في شرق اليمن، ليصبح واحدًا من أبرز الأصوات في مجال اللغويات العربية الجنوبية.
ومن خلال ارتباطه العميق باللغة المهرية وشغفه بالحفاظ على الإرث اللغوي، حوّل الدكتور القميري تراثه الشخصي إلى إرث أكاديمي عالمي.
عقب حصوله على درجة البكالوريوس في تعليم اللغة الإنجليزية من جامعة حضرموت، انطلقت رحلته العلمية عبر القارات، حيث نال درجة الماجستير في اللغويات من جامعة مالايا، ثم درجة الدكتوراه في اللغويات التطبيقية من جامعة العلوم الماليزية. وقد شكّلت هذه المراحل الأكاديمية أساسًا لمسيرة علمية اتسمت بالابتكار البحثي، والتأثير المجتمعي، والاعتراف الدولي.
قدّم الدكتور القميري إسهامات علمية غزيرة ومؤثرة. وخلال زمالته البحثية لما بعد الدكتوراه في جامعة ليدز البريطانية، تعاون مع باحثين مرموقين مثل البروفيسورة جانيت واتسون، وأسهم في أبحاث رائدة حول اللغات المهددة بالانقراض واللغويات البيئية. وقد نُشرت أعماله المشتركة في مجلات مرموقة مثل:

وإلى جانببحثه العلمي، يتمتع الدكتور القميري بحضور أكاديمي بارز في التدريس والخدمة المجتمعية، فقد درّس في جامعات حضرموت، المهرة، ونزوى، وكان ملهمًا للأجيال من طلابه، من خلال مقررات عدة تشمل الفونولوجيا، الصرف، النحو، والكتابة الفنية. كما أشرف على طلاب دراسات عليا، وتولى مناصب إدارية مثل رئاسة القسم وعمادة الشؤون الأكاديمية والطلابية، مما يعكس التزامه العميق بتطوير التعليم العالي على المستويين المؤسسي والوطني.

Born in the remote yet culturally rich region of Al-Mahrah, Yemen, Dr. Saeed Saad Njdan Al-Qumairi rose to become one of the foremost voices in the field of South Arabian linguistics. With a deep-rooted connection to the Mehri language and a passion for linguistic preservation, Dr. Al-Qumairi transformed personal heritage into an academic legacy.
After completing his BSc in English Education at Hadhramaut University, Dr. Al-Qumairi’s journey led him across continents—earning an MA in Linguistics from the University of Malaya and a PhD in Applied Linguistics from the University of Science, Malaysia. These academic milestones laid the groundwork for a career characterized by innovative research, community impact, and international recognition.
His scholarly contributions are numerous and influential. As a postdoctoral researcher and fellow at the University of Leeds, Dr. Al-Qumairi collaborated with renowned linguists such as Professor Janet Watson, contributing to groundbreaking research on endangered languages and ecological linguistics.
His co-authored works in prestigious journals like Plos One, Lingua, and the Journal of Semitic Studies have advanced our understanding of syntax, morphology, and cultural poetics in endangered South Arabian languages.
A prolific author, Dr. Al-Qumairi has published journal articles, book chapters, and documentation archives focusing on Mehri and related languages. He played a pivotal role in producing A Comparative Cultural Glossary across the Modern South Arabian Language Family (Oxford University Press) and contributed to multilingual cultural projects such as The Legend of Durian.
Equally committed to education and public scholarship, Dr. Al-Qumairi has held teaching posts at Hadhramaut University, Mahrah University, and the University of Nizwa, where he inspired a generation of linguists through courses ranging from Phonology to Morphology, Syntax and Technical Writing. His mentorship of graduate students and his work in administrative leadership—as Head of Department and Assistant Dean—demonstrate his dedication to academic development at both institutional and national levels.
